A witness to a traffic accident on a Maryland bridge jumped into the bay and saved a 2-year-old girl who had been ejected from her car seat and had been thrown into the water.
The accident happened on the Route 90 bridge in Ocean City on Sunday, injuring eight people, including a toddler who was thrown from a silver pickup truck into the Assawoman Bay.
A Good Samaritan leapt over the guardrail and into the bay to save the baby.
The hero, who requested anonymity, was caught on film by eyewitness Tricia Michele Roberts-Oertel.
While swimming in the bay, the man can be seen cradling the infant in his arms before handing her over to someone on a private boat.
At Johns Hopkins Hospital, the child’s condition is stable. The remaining seven injured people are expected to make a full recovery.Follow Us
